Chemistry has often been referred to as "The Central Science". Knowledge of the properties and behavior of atoms and molecules is crucial to our understanding of medicine, biological systems, neuroscience, nanotechnology and environmental science The Chemistry Department offers courses in the traditional major areas of chemistry, as well as in interdisciplinary areas, such as biochemistry, analytical chemistry etc.

The Department of the Chemistry was established at the inception of B Sc microbiology course. This college is also offering education in five years integrated M Sc biotechnology course. We are also offering one of the compulsory subject at first year science. This rapidly developing fields of Biotechnology & Environmental Science need a student with a strong foundation in Chemistry.

So biochemistry is also taught as one of the subject from the year 2008 at this department.

To develop student talent in order to make a difference in these areas,the Chemistry Department provides students with an excellent, comprehensive education of the principles of chemistry, including a rich laboratory experience within the curriculum.
