The department of microbiology was established in 2002, and has already shown its mark in the teaching microbiology subject. At the B.Sc. Degree course the department offer microbiology as Major subject (8 papers having 10 units each) and Chemistry as Minor subject (four papers with 8 units each). More than 250 students have successfully completed the university degree course. Our students are university rankers in the subject of microbiology for three years. Several students passing from this department have qualified CSTR-UGC-NET/GATE examinations. Few of them are working for their Ph.D. degree in different universities and research institutes in India and abroad. Rest of the successful candidates of last  batch have been placed in different jobs.
Infrastructure
The infrastructural facilities of the microbiology classroom and laboratories have been developed with modern instruments, audio-visual system and computer facilities. The Department has already developed its infrastructure with some sophisticated equipments like fermenter (sartorius sleadin pvt.ltd. germany), UV-Vis spectrophometer, PCR thermocycler, Gel doc system (Bio-red laborat, U.S.A.), BOD chamber, Cooling centrifuge, cold storage laminar air flow system, ultra centrifuge and other essential instruments required for conducting research and practical classes.
